Chiropractors are five-year trained health professionals. Achieving the honorary title of Dr of Chiropractic reflects the dedication and time it takes to learn exactly what is needed to become proficient in this discipline.

Chiropractors are spinal health specialists, viewing the spine as a foundational and integral part of someone’s body. The Spine itself houses the nervous system, the master control system of the body. It is the attachment point of a huge number of the body’s muscles. It gives us our posture and allows movement of the trunk so we can move and function in everything we do.

Getting this structure working and functioning well is important to both how it feels but through the nervous system and how your whole body works. The short-term effects of spinal dysfunction is pain and restriction, the body will feel tight and restricted not able to do what it was designed to do. Long-term, the flow on effect of this can cause significantly more pain and disability.

With this in mind, back pain is experienced by one in three people in Australia every day causing a huge burden on our economy and the lives of millions of Australians. So many people just put up with it.

Chiropractors offer hands on care that can help restore the spine to function that can both reduce pain and increase it’s ability to do (handle) anything thrown at it.

Common conditions seen by chiropractors include: Lower Back Pain, Headaches and Migraines, Mid back Pain, Neck pain, Disc Injuries, Whiplash, Scoliosis, Posture Correction, Sciatica, Back/Neck Stiffness, Tight muscles, Jaw Pain, Spinal Assessment, Muscle Strains/Sprains, Biomechanical Dysfunction, Radiating pain, Extremity pain, Sports Injuries, Arthritic pain.

Physiotherapists are university-trained health professionals with a minimum of four to five years of education and clinical training. Their qualification reflects the extensive study and practical experience required to develop expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating movement and function-related conditions.

Physiotherapists are movement and rehabilitation specialists, focusing on how the body’s muscles, joints, and nervous system work together to allow efficient, pain-free movement. They view optimal function as the key to living an active, healthy life—whether that means recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, or improving physical performance.

Their aim is to restore normal movement, strength, and flexibility through evidence-based, hands-on treatment and targeted exercise programs. When the body is not moving as it should, it can result in pain, stiffness, weakness, or compensations that lead to further injury. Early and effective physiotherapy care can prevent these issues from becoming long-term problems, supporting better overall health and quality of life.

In Australia, one in three people experience musculoskeletal pain each year, affecting their ability to work, exercise, and enjoy daily activities. Physiotherapists play a vital role in helping individuals overcome these challenges, regain confidence in their movement, and prevent recurrence through education and self-management strategies.

Common conditions seen by physiotherapists include: Sports Injuries, Back and Neck Pain, Postural Issues, Muscle Strains and Sprains, Joint Pain, Arthritis, Tendon Injuries, Post-Surgical Rehabilitation, Work-Related Injuries, Balance and Mobility Problems, Neurological Conditions, and Chronic Pain Management.

Dr Luca Loreggian has a passion to see everyone achieve their health goals and live their life to the full. Growing up in Perth, from a young age Luca had a keen interest in health and helping others. Seeing friends and family limited by the aches and pains of injury and chronic disease Luca turned his attention to a career in health care.

Chiropractic stood out as an obvious choice: Focusing on the treatment and prevention of complaints without the use of drugs and surgery, but rather optimising function of the spine and nervous system while encouraging the body back to health through correct diet, exercise and lifestyle choices.

Health care in our community seems to show a preference towards curing disease once it has already arisen rather than providing education and strategies to support prevention. This has led to the development of treatments that mask symptoms while leaving underlying pathology unresolved.

Seeing a shift in a patients view of their own health and the resulting change in lifestyle is what Luca is passionate about. Luca’s philosophy is to provide patient centred care, working with people in partnership to achieve their health goals and be pain and injury free. You will always receive the time and care you deserve at Dunsborough Family Chiropractic.
